Stream Monitoring Training Workshop

Saturday, May 3, 2008 9am-12pm

Become a Water Action Volunteer and learn how to monitor local streams
for water quality! Water Action Volunteers (WAV) visit at least one
stream of their choosing once a month from May through September to
collect information about the water quality of that stream. Water
quality data include: dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, flow rate,
aquatic invertebrates, and turbidity. Water Action Volunteers assess the
water quality of a subset of the 2,602 miles of streams and rivers in
the Lower Chippewa River basin that might not otherwise receive water
quality monitoring from professionals or other agencies. Stream
monitoring is fun for all ages! Bring a friend along too! We recommend
that monitors work in teams of at least two people because some
measurements are more easily done with a partner. No experience is
necessary as we will give you all of the information you need to know!
