Past programs are listed below. Read through and learn of the various interests of member of the Chippewa Valley Astronomical Society.

 

January 19, 02 Bert Moritz presented on Comets - Excellent Program

February 2,3 02 Winter Starfest for CVAS club members only - Followed by the annual french toast breakfast sponsored by Beaver Creek Reserve - Good turnout.

February 16, 02 Digital Camera Workshop, Bring your own camera or share with a club member. Photos will be taken through various scopes, binoculars and projected on screen for presentation in the classroom. - Excellent program with many in attendance.

March 16, 02 Bob Elliott - presented - "From Hobbs to Hubble" Very interesting program.

April 20, 02 Joe Benevides - presented - "The Keck Telescope in Hawaii" A tour without the expense, enjoyed by all.

May 18, 02 Astronomy Day - Public programs at L.E. Phillips Public Library from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. Very well received.

Evening Program - Alexa Halford - presented - "Nature's Radio" and "Turning the Red Planet Green" at Hobbs -Excellent Program

June 15, 02 Ed Henry -  presented  - "What the Heck is a Nebula?" Everyone learned something.

July 20, 02 Mike and Brett Walker -  presented  - "Aurora" Everyone learned from this program

August 9-11, 02 Summer Starfest - open to the first 150 registrants. A great experience by all.

August 17, 02 Pete Peloquin - presented - "Radio Astronomy"    There is more to astronomy than visual scopes as Pete taught us.

September 21, 02 John Peterson - presented - "Exploring with the Red Planet Rovers" A great explanation of what is coming.

October 19, 02 Rick Swenson - "Tracking Satellites" A lifetime passion shared with all.

November 16, 02 Bill Smethells - "Nearby Stars" , Stars close to Earth that may have planets. This is a topic gaining more and more interest as time passes.

January 18, 03 Nathan Miller - " Chandra Xray Observatory" More questions asked by the younger generation in attendance.

February 1 & 2, 03 Winter Starfest - Featuring discussions and information shared among members of the CVAS. A sad day for all with the news of the Space Shuttle Columbia Tragedy

February 15, 03 Dale Reid - " Telescopes of the Southwest" Very interesting tour.

March 15, 03 Kent Vollmar - "Black Holes" An excellent introduction to the theory of Black Holes. Good discussions afterwards.

April 19, 03 Bert Moritz - "Eratosthenes, The Man and the Crater" An interesting history of the crater and the man.

May 17, 03 Greg Furtman - "Exploring Mars" Past and future exploration of the planet.

June 21, Ray Forsgren - "Observing 101"  An interesting talk  on what  to look for  in the night  sky.

July 19, 03 Jim Fitzl - "The Big Bear" History of Ursa Major.

August 16, 03 Bill Smethells - "Supernova! Why Stars Blow Up"

September 20, 03  Bert Moritz - "Messier:  The Man and His Objects"

October 18,  03  Heidi Conde - "Orientation to the Night Sky"

November 15, Paul Thomas - "Mars: The Next Wave"  A lead in to the Spirit Landing on Mars.
