Earth Week Challenge
Saturday, April 23 at 2:00 p.m.
BCR Friends $10
UPDATE 4/23 at 11:00 am- The event is still a go and will be outside on our trails. The weather radar looks like skies will be clear by start time. We can't wait to see you all this afternoon!
Back again this year is our annual Earth Week Challenge! This challenge is designed as a way to encourage sustainable and environmental practices among members of Eau Claire and surrounding communities. As part of the challenge this year, we will be hosting a Pollinator Run/Walk to bring awareness to native plants and their pollinators. This run/walk will highlight the importance of pollinators, help us understand the positive effects they have on our environment, and learn what you can do to help! Participants will plant & spread native plant seeds around the Reserve as a way to increase diversity and pollinator habitats at Beaver Creek.
This is not a competitive run, more so a great way to get outside and help our insect friends!
After the event, attendees will be able to explore Beaver Creek's trails and Nature Center, participate in other fun activities, and meet local businesses and organizations that also support sustainable initiatives.
Participants will receive a t-shirt for completing the run/walk! Register by Friday, April 8 to guarantee yourself a t-shirt. There will be a limited supply available after the April 8.
Registration has closed.
In case of rain or bad weather that inhibits us from doing the run/walk, we will still host the event on April 23 at 2:00 p.m., but it will be a "take-home" run/walk instead.
Registrants can pick up their t-shirts, stickers, and native plant seeds at the Wise Nature Center to either spread at Beaver Creek or on their own property on a nicer day. Businesses & organizations will still be tabling the event, so come by to learn other sustainable initiatives and activities you can do to be green, but indoors at the Nature Center. There is a raffle prize available for those who come, and teams can win 5 points towards our Earth Week Challenge for attending!
The decision will be made by 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Stay tuned!
