Are You a Night Owl?

Join Beaver Creek Reserve’s Northern Saw-whet Owl Banding Crew and become part of this exciting nighttime research project!

During this hands-on training, you’ll learn how we safely capture, handle, band, and measure these fascinating nocturnal migrants. Whether you’re interested in helping with data collection, or other aspects of the project, there’s a volunteer role to match a variety of interests and comfort levels.

Owl banding takes place throughout October, from approximately 6:00 p.m. to midnight. As a volunteer, you’ll contribute to important research while having the opportunity to see these amazing owls up close. Training: Please bring a brown-bag dinner to the training.

Volunteer Commitment: New volunteers are asked to commit to at least one night per week during the banding season.

Ages: 18+
Cost: BCR Members and Nonmembers $80, Students $40
Location: Beaver Den at Beaver Creek Reserve
